As a unit stills photographer on the set of a TV or film production, its important to get some shots of the director working with the actors. It makes for a good "behind the scenes" image and usually doesn't give too much away in terms of spoilers.
A lot of the work between actors and director takes place during the director's rehearsal or "blocking". Unfortunately this goes unphotographed, since it takes place in relative privacy, and the crew wait off-set until the blocking is done, before coming back onto set to watch a "crew rehearsal". After that, its a case of waiting for the director to interact with the actors again during camera rehearsals, and in between takes, to get the pictures.
Here's three of those pictures, featuring three Doctor Who directors - Rachel Talalay, Daniel Nettheim and Ed Bazalgette.
